Frequently Asked Questions
How does attribution work?
How does attribution work?
Convertly uses three methods to attribute sales to creators:
- Discount codes (highest confidence) — when a customer uses a creator’s unique code at checkout, the sale is attributed with certainty.
- Tracking cookies (medium confidence) — when a customer clicks a creator’s tracking link, a first-party cookie is set. If they purchase within the attribution window (default 30 days), the sale is attributed.
- UTM parameters (lower confidence) — URL-based tracking as a fallback.
Can I use my own discount codes?
Can I use my own discount codes?
Yes. When creating discount codes in Convertly, you can enter any custom code string you want (e.g.,
SARAH15, SUMMERLAUNCH, VIP20). The code is synced to your Shopify store automatically. However, discount codes created directly in Shopify admin (outside of Convertly) will not be tracked. You need to create or import them through Convertly for attribution to work. How do creators get paid?

How do storefronts appear on my store?
Creator storefronts use Shopify’s App Proxy feature. They appear at URLs like
yourstore.com/community/creatorname and are rendered within your store’s theme — using your header, footer, and navigation.Visitors see the creator’s personalized page (bio, hero image, featured products) as a native part of your website. Product links include the creator’s discount code so it auto-applies at checkout. What happens when my trial expires?
